OSHIRO modelterrain produce including Japanese, Chinese, Victorian, Sci-fi and VSF products along with gaming aids. All our models are professionally hand made and 3D printed. Commissions welcome.
I am an architectural model maker by trade and can therefore bring an industry type quality to my work but not at the expense of wargaming style. I enjoy wargaming and the hobby as a whole and hopefully this is apparent in my work.
I specialise in Japanese buildings, fortifications and terrain (hence the Japanese feel to the site) but this doesn't mean that other periods and theatres are left out, on the contrary, I can turn my hand to anything, any scale, anytime, anywhere using as much relevant research as possible to achieve the desired effect.
To order a custom piece of terrain is quite simple. You have an idea, e-mail it to me and we go from there, keeping you up to date with progress along the way etc. For more details on how the process works please don't hesitate to get in contact and I'm sure we can arrange things to your satisfaction.

All models, supplied unpainted. They not toys, and some contain small parts, so they are not recommended for young children. Most of our miniatures require assembly, and some have several parts. Designed for patient and experienced modellers and painters.

We are based near Cambridge in the UK
We are based near Cambridge in the UK, but we are happy to supply every corner of the World. If you are a store owner, and you would like to stock our miniatures, please get in touch. Customers will always, however, find a quick and efficient service buying our products through our webstore. Or by visiting our stand at occasional wargames shows and gaming conventions in the UK and Europe. And if you’re in the area, you’d be very welcome to drop in to our office/workshop for a chat.
Our MiniaturesOur figures, sculpted in a variety of media. Moulded and cast in pewter or resin, and packaged in attractive blister packs and boxes. We describe our miniatures as 28mm, meaning that an average-sized human would stand at around 28mm tall. However, not many of our figures average-sized humans! For monsters, we use a scale of 5mm on the model to represent 1 foot of height. So a 10 foot tall Ogre would represented by a 50mm tall miniature. Most figures modelled with ‘slotta-tabs’ and supplied with appropriate plastic bases.
If you have any suggestions about miniatures that you would like to see us produce in the future, please contact us. Where you can also find up to date information about new releases and future plans.

PartnersMarilyn (long suffering wife of Jeff) the buxom lady you usually see at shows, who runs the casting operation, takes your orders and tries to keep you happy, prints and binds the books and tells us all off (usually me!).
Jeff (the worrier) the guy you usually see at the shows, publishes the books, does the admin, did this site and doesn't have enough time to do all the other things he wants to do!
The Designers
Pete Foggin (the hippy) also an associate, designed all our 15mm figures, ships and the new 25mm Ancients, occasionally helps at the shows
Peter Rogerson (the Scottish Manxman) full time sculptor, designed our new Mexican revolution range and Border Reiver ranges, will do a whole lot more (when we can afford them!), has his own 'toy soldier' ranges. He comes highly recommended and is very reliable - can be contacted on 01624-816667 (Isle of Man)
Martin Baker full-time sculptor did our Highwaymen a long time ago(or so it seems!) currently working on our new range of 28mm Aztecs my, how his skills have developed!

Daniel Merseys Author of: Arthur: King of the Britons (Summersdale, 2004): From Celtic Hero to Cinema Icon Legendary Warriors (Chrysalis, 2002): Arthur, Beowulf, William Wallace, and more Glutter of Ravens (Outpost, 1998): Warfare in the Age of Arthur AD 400-700
The Customers
Yes, that's you! Our philosophy has been to try and produce the ranges that the 'big boys' ignore but that the wargamers would actually like to see. We have a couple of local wargame clubs which help us choose them, but we value all customer information. If you would like to see specific ranges produced - contact us! We cannot promise to produce everything - after all, we have to believe we will see a return on the investment. But if enough people ask (don't forget it can take up to six months to create even a relatively small range by the time it has been thoroughly researched)
We can offer 'club or group' funded ranges, where a range could be sponsored by a wargame club or group - the costs and arrangements would depend on the size of the range, but the idea would be to split the cost of producing the range and the figures would be produced freely for the sponsors (to the value of the original amount sponsored - at a discount). Contact us if you are interested.

Paper naval models in 1:250 scale, ACW through WWI. Also sells etched metal accessories.
Based in Cambridge in the UK, Paper Shipwright has been publishing high-quality paper/card models since 1999. Paper Shipwright is the trading name of David Hathaway.
The range of models published reflects the market niche initially identified – namely smaller Victorian-era warships – but has since expanded to include modern vessels as well as civilian subjects and buildings with a maritime theme.
A partnership formed in 2006 with Trinity House has resulted in the launch of a range of models featuring English and Welsh lighthouses. Working around the coast (both clock-wise and anti-clockwise) from a starting point in East Anglia, it is hoped to release a number of models each year – and with nearly 70 lighthouse to create models of, this is not a short-term project.
Each model’s subject is exhaustively researched and designed based on original drawings and sources wherever possible. All the models include a history of the vessel, English instructional text and full assembly diagrams.
While some models are free and can be downloaded at no charge, others must be bought and all purchased models are only available as printed copies. The majority of the models published have been designed by David Hathaway and they are printed in small batches on a photo-quality inkjet printer that uses light-fast and waterproof pigment inks.

Paper Terrain produce a range of paper structures in a variety of scales and periods. They are printed on a heavy cardstock and are ready for immediate assembly and use. Our structures are a sturdy, lightweight, economical and attractive alternative to resin.
Designed For Wargamers!
A primary feature of our buildings is that each one consists of an undamaged building which fits around a ruined version of the same building. This allows troops to be placed easily inside building, and if the structure is destroyed during a game, simply lift off the top to reveal the ruin underneath!
An Expanding Range of Products!
PaperTerrain was created in 2005 with just a small number of products. We have been working tirelessly ever since to add to our range. Currently, we carry several different sets of 19th-20th Century European buildings. Our Russian and Middle Eastern buildings are suitable for any period from the late middle-ages to the present. The Mediterranean-style buildings are suitable for the 17th-20th Century. We also have a range of 19th Century American buildings. The sets of grass huts and shacks are appropriate for a wide range of locations and any period from prehistoric to modern. Recently we added Oriental Buildings and several products from the Zulu War, including the famous mission station at Rorke’s Drift. Our other products include a range of fortifications including trenches, bunkers, pillboxes, minefields and barbed wire plus a spectacular Vauban-style fortress. We have three of the most widely used types of World War II landing craft. We have a number of different bridges ranging from pontoon bridges to large viaducts. Our sets of railroad equipment and buildings fill a longstanding need for these items. We have a range of paper “flats” of soldiers from the American Civil War. We even have science fiction fortifications. We also have some wargaming accessories such as explosion markers and ‘smoke boxes’. Nearly all of our products are available in 6mm, 10/12mm, 15mm and 20mm scales. Many are available in 25/28mm and more will be coming soon. And this is just the beginning! PaperTerrain hopes to someday offer almost anything a gamer could want in the way of buildings and accessories. Keep checking this website for new products!
