AdeptiCon has grown consistently over the past seventeen years, from the humble 110 person event in 2003, to the amazing 6,500 attendees AdeptiCon hosted in 2019. Over these seventeen years, AdeptiCon has been held at five different venues. We have expanded from a handful of events to well over 650 tournaments, event games, and hobby seminars covering all aspects of the miniature war gaming hobby. Despite the continued growth and necessary expansion, we have made every effort to keep consistent focus on one major priority: to present to our attendees the highest quality wargaming event possible. This will remain our priority for 2020 and beyond.

The Battleground show, established in 2009, started life as Smoggycon, and was organised by Stuart Johnston and the Middlesbrough Gamers Club. From 2013, Pendraken Miniatures took over the organising of the show, with the aim to build on the excellent foundations already in place.
For 2014, the show moved to a new home, at the Queens Campus Sports Hall, in Stockton-on-Tees. This building is part of the Stockton Campus of Durham University, and provides a modern spacious hall, able to house a bigger number of games and traders, as well as offering local attractions and nearby shopping facilities for our visitors. The new venue received a very positive response from the visitors.
Our main aim is to constantly improve the show, making it into one of the major shows in the north of England. We hope you'll come along and join us for a great day out!

Harford Area Weekly Kriegsspielers (HAWKs). We play mostly, but not exclusively, historical miniatures games; although, we also do role playing games (e.g., Dungeons and Dragons), board games, and card games. We play mostly multi-player games with three to four players on a side. We also run Barrage.
This is in Harford County, just Northeast of Baltimore, near the US Army’s Aberdeen Proving Ground. We are not located near Hartford, Connecticut, as people sometimes assume.
We game on the first, third, and (when there is one) fifth Friday evening at Grove Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen, Maryland. Park in the rear and follow the signs to the room on the second floor where we game. We generally have two games scheduled for each HAWKs night. It can range from ancient warfare and WWII to Victorian science fiction and stompy robots.

As ever, we would like Hereward’s focus to be predominantly ‘letting people have a go‘. That means that we will, in the event that we have more entries than we can fit in our available space, give preference to games which are full-on participation games or hands-on demos – in short, we’d like people to get involved, rather than watch you play. If your game doesn’t obviously fit the above criteria, we reserve the right to put you on a waiting list.
