Long Business Description

Italeri SpA is an Italian manufacturer of plastic scale models of airplanes, military vehicles, helicopters, ships, trucks, and cars. The company was founded in 1962 by Giuliano Malservisi and Gian Pietro Parmeggiani to produce accurate scale model kits with attention to detail.

History

The history of Italeri begins in the first half of the 1960s in Bologna. The company was born from the passion of the two founders, Giuliano Malservisi and Gian Pietro Parmeggiani who, since childhood, have loved airplanes and military vehicles. As demanding model makers, they are no longer satisfied with what is on the market, in a thriving and dynamic market that is in the process of progressive expansion, but they decide to transmit their passion and their search for detail in their daily work. The first commercial name of the company, officially founded in 1962, is “Italstamp” and the first kit put on the market, under the “Aliplast” brand, is a 1/72 scale model of the Italian fighter Fiat G-55. After about ten years the commercial name of the company becomes “Italaerei” and then becomes, through a small phonetic contraction, the definitive “Italeri”. The company logo, consisting of two red and green vertical bands and a stylized logo on the front of a propeller plane, identifies the strong Italian vocation and experience in the production of scale models of aircraft. Italeri has also acquired, during its operational life, the molds of the “Supermodel”, the “Protar” and the “ESCI”.

Our production

The Bologna-based company immediately established itself as an important point of reference for all plastic model makers. Right from the start, Italeri product lines are characterized by a certain uniqueness of the subjects made and by the typical quality of “made in Italy”, actually joining the English, French and German productions.

Italeri today offers a vast and complete catalog capable of satisfying the most demanding and attentive to detail modelers through new productions with a high quality level and the utmost attention to detail, the result of careful historical and modeling research and the use of the most modern design techniques. Italeri scale models cover all the main categories of static modeling: airplanes, helicopters, military vehicles, ships, trucks and trailers, cars, motorcycles, toy soldiers and accessories for dioramas.

For example, the range of 1:32 aircraft received great interest, which after the "supermodel" of the 2014 F-104 Starfighter has continually expanded with interesting and popular subjects such as the Mirage III or the recent fifth generation F-35 fighter. Lightning II. In the world of military vehicles, our philosophy is to offer accessible products, with an excellent quality / price ratio, suitable for everyone but also able to satisfy the most demanding model makers. It is on this guideline that the T-34/85 was born, particularly appreciated by the modeling “community” all over the world. Our naval line in scale 1: 35 of the torpedo boats (from the Schnellboot S-100 of the Kriegsmarine to the British Vosper) continues to be a point of reference for those who want to create a complete line dedicated to the light ships of the Second World War also suitable for the implementation of interesting dioramas. As far as civil vehicles are concerned, Italeri is a leader in the "truck & trailers" world. The wide range of trucks has been further expanded with the introduction of the new latest generation models: the Mercedes Benz MP4 Actros, and the 1:24 scale Volvo FH4. Italeri historic cars in 1:12 scale such as the Fiat Mefistofele, the Fiat 806 Grand Prix and the recent Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza by Tazio Nuvolari are very popular. Italeri also presented in 2016 the most iconic product of the Italian automotive world:

The value of communicating with model makers.

Over the last few years Italeri has also further implemented the project to involve its large audience of model makers enthusiasts through the use of the web and social media. After the modern and captivating website and the completely renewed e-commerce platform, today Italeri is present on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Our social media are used not only to communicate our activities but to give space to the creativity of our model makers friends with the publication of their creations. From the first works of the "beginners" to the modeling works of art of the most experienced, Italeri aims to be "Social" to spread the fantastic hobby of modeling worldwide.

International and institutional partnerships.

Finally, Italeri attention to collaborations with important international partners should be emphasized. In recent years Italeri has created a collaboration project with World of Tanks and War Thunder to bring the world of video games closer to the world of scale modeling. Finally, great attention to the Italian reality through collaboration agreements with the Italian Air Force, the Arma dei Carabinieri and through an interesting project dedicated to the world of schools to raise awareness and spread the culture of modeling.

  1. If I need something in 1:72nd scale for my interest in 20mm gaming, I look to Italeri, first. Italeri may be a model company, but they are a close friend of us wargamers. Many of their products are made exclusively for us.

They have some excellent, fast-build kits of WWII vehicles that include two models, making unit building cheap and easy. I have purchased those. Their range of buildings are just plain EXCELLENT. All are fairly quick to build, sturdy, detailed, and beautiful. I can think of at least six Italeri terrain kits I have, off the top of my head, and they have allowed me to do so much with them. By simply adding some signage and graffiti, I was able to turn buildings for WWII in Europe into a modern Syrian village for my modern project. These kits are made for wargaming, and being handled. They are not fiddly and delicate. They are beautiful, but durable.

I’m hoping to see more releases in 1:72 from Italeri. They take good care of us wargamers.

Speaking of which, let’s see some armored vehicles, in 1:144!!!
