  1. I’m probably one of the few wargamers who has NOT done a lot of business with The Perry Brothers, but that is ONLY because they are concentrated (pretty much) on 28mm. Now, 28mm is the most popular scale out there, but I just don’t do it, anymore.

I DO do 10mm, however. That passion led me to the Perry Brothers’ brilliant Travel Battle. This Napoleonic era game is scaled in 8mm. The pieces are generic, and made of plastic, with, if I recall, line infantry, guard infantry, heavy cavalry, light cavalry, guns, and commanders. The set also comes with two map boards with removable buildings and forests. All pieces are cast in very paintable, durable styrene. This was the big selling point for me.

I went a bit nuts and ordered several full sets, as well as extra sprues of just about every piece, so I’ve yet to get mine painted (yes, I have one or two unpainted miniatures). However, I’ve seen these miniatures painted up (as just about every conceivable Napoleonic army), and they are mouth-watering.

Oh, and yeah, The Perrys do some 28mm stuff, I hear. Actually, that 28mm thing they’re dabbling in… they’re the leaders in that industry. They seem to know 28mm better than anyone, and their work is just brilliant. Having sculpted for years with the likes of Games Workshop and Foundry, they’ve been around, y’know?

Me, I buy the tiny stuff. C’mon, Alan, Michael, let’s have some 10mm releases… 🙂
