Welcome to the largest collection of female miniatures in the world!

Bad Squiddo Games, home of Believable Female Miniatures, Baggy the Bag and Annie - The Dice Bag Lady. Bad Squiddo Games provides gamers and painters around the world with the largest selection of female miniatures out there. As well as manufacturing my own line, I carefully hand pick stock from over 50 different manufacturers. This means you have as wide a choice as possible to get that perfect miniature, and it’s a great way to bring many companies to work together in what is a small and friendly industry.

Just like a large portion of the industry, Bad Squiddo Games is a one-person business set up, owned and run by me – Annie Norman. However, I do work with some absolutely outstanding sculptors, casters, painters and concept artists – both in talent and personality – which make up the “Bad Squiddo Family”.

Phil Hynes, John Morris, Alan Marsh, Shane Hoyle, Jo Brumby, Tim Prow, Martin Baker, Delaney King, Kev White, Mark Evans and Andrew May are the putty pushers behind the madness so far, with Paul Cubbin and Andrew Taylor (and John Morris again!) bringing them to life with stunning paint jobs. They all deserve a mention and clap here as the company would not be what it is without them.

The number one aim for Bad Squiddo Games is to create and supply the miniatures that would have made the hobby far far better for my 10 year old self. To welcome more young girls and women into wargaming and miniature painting, as well as providing diverse options to the entire gaming community. And yeah – cool toys!

Who the heck am I? Well hello, I am Annie, you may have also heard of me in regards to my previous business “The Dice Bag Lady”. I credit my mum (Hi mum) with introducing me to the hobby via some dusty old White Dwarfs as a young girl, as well as encouraging me along as I got more and more into it. Like most people, my interest waved up and down over the years but it was always there. It was in 2010 that I made a strong decision to find a local group and get my game back on. I was studying Fine Art at the time and made myself a funky dice bag for my new shiny dice.

As is the case with these stories, I made more for friends, then more for people around the tournament scene, and before I knew it, they were all over the world and I had quit my university course and then my job. “The Dice Bag Lady” is a legacy I am very proud of, and it is amazing to still see them floating around in such abundance. It was sadly brought to an end in 2015 by a series of wrist injuries brought on directly from such intense embroidery and crochet (rock and roll!). Don’t craft too hard kids, it’s not worth it, listen to your Auntie Annie!

Following this, much like a Japanese pocket monster, I evolved into “Bad Squiddo Games” and began the next chapter: Miniatures. Gaming wise, I played around the Warhammer Fantasy tournament scene quite heavily for a few years, before discovering just how many games there are out there (thanks trade shows!) and have tried many games at least once, with SAGA, Frostgrave and Iron Cross currently winning. I naturally play a lot less now, whenever I can squeeze time away from this.

What is a Bad Squiddo? What is a good squiddo? Baggy the Bag was the mascot of The Dice Bag Lady, and when it switched to a miniatures company, I didn’t want to lose him, but “Baggy Miniatures” sounds a bit horrible. The squiddos are squid like creatures which feature in a lot of the cartoons based on Baggy. They have a love/hate relationship. The Squiddos are usually pictured smiling, and Baggy is usually frowning. Poor fella.

Long Business Description

Ground Zero Games (GZG) is owned and run by Jon Tuffley, as Proprietor (Sole Trader). It is a one-man business, which means I get to do almost everything! Website administration (the technical stuff) is handled by Paul Owen of Binary Networks Ltd. At shows, I may have one or more volunteer helpers with me, but they are not GZG employees - so please be patient and polite with them, any complaints should be directed to me!

I have been running GZG since 1985, and it has been a full-time business for me since 1991; starting with a few resin-cast 15mm vehicles, the company and its ranges have grown and changed a lot over the years - now we produce exclusively in metal, having recently sold off the last of our resin model ranges. The one thing that has not changed is that I still produce everything (with a few minor exceptions like decals and dice) IN-HOUSE - design, mould making, casting production and packing and dispatch are all handled in one place.

GZG trades predominantly by mail order, shipping goods to customers in all parts of the world - we do not sell through distributors or retailers, preferring to deal directly with our customers. The one exception to this is that certain of our product lines are available in licence-produced form from Eureka Miniatures in Australia, for sale within the Australasian market. VAT is deducted from our retail prices for orders being shipped to countries outside the EU - the online store will show VAT-exclusive prices for you if you select that option.

We also attend a number of the major wargame shows in the UK each year, usually including SALUTE (Excel, London), TRIPLES (Sheffield), GAMES EXPO (Birmingham), COLOURS (Newbury), SELWG (Crystal Palace, London), FIASCO (Leeds), WARFARE (Reading) and possibly one or two others. For further information on show dates etc, please see our news announcements.

PartnersMarilyn (long suffering wife of Jeff) the buxom lady you usually see at shows, who runs the casting operation, takes your orders and tries to keep you happy, prints and binds the books and tells us all off (usually me!).

Jeff (the worrier) the guy you usually see at the shows, publishes the books, does the admin, did this site and doesn't have enough time to do all the other things he wants to do!

The Designers

Pete Foggin (the hippy) also an associate, designed all our 15mm figures, ships and the new 25mm Ancients, occasionally helps at the shows

Peter Rogerson (the Scottish Manxman) full time sculptor, designed our new Mexican revolution range and Border Reiver ranges, will do a whole lot more (when we can afford them!), has his own 'toy soldier' ranges. He comes highly recommended and is very reliable - can be contacted on 01624-816667 (Isle of Man)

Daniel Merseys  Author of: Arthur: King of the Britons (Summersdale, 2004): From Celtic Hero to Cinema Icon Legendary Warriors (Chrysalis, 2002): Arthur, Beowulf, William Wallace, and more Glutter of Ravens (Outpost, 1998): Warfare in the Age of Arthur AD 400-700

The Customers

Yes, that's you! Our philosophy has been to try and produce the ranges that the 'big boys' ignore but that the wargamers would actually like to see. We have a couple of local wargame clubs which help us choose them, but we value all customer information. If you would like to see specific ranges produced - contact us! We cannot promise to produce everything - after all, we have to believe we will see a return on the investment. But if enough people ask (don't forget it can take up to six months to create even a relatively small range by the time it has been thoroughly researched)

We can offer 'club or group' funded ranges, where a range could be sponsored by a wargame club or group - the costs and arrangements would depend on the size of the range, but the idea would be to split the cost of producing the range and the figures would be produced freely for the sponsors (to the value of the original amount sponsored - at a discount). Contact us if you are interested.
